Scholastic Book Club
Literacy and a love of reading is a key focus at St Joseph’s. To support this, Scholastic Book Club Catalogues are distributed 1-2 times per term. These colourful catalogues showcase books for all ages, and are ordered easily through an online ‘LOOP’ platform:
LOGIN (scholastic.com.au) Books are delivered conveniently through the school to children's classrooms.
Book Club orders earn St Joseph’s ‘Rewards Points’ equivalent to 20% of the value of the orders placed. These points are then exchanged for books, classroom equipment and other learning resources.
Scholastic Book Fairs are also hosted at St Joseph’s. These ‘hands-on’ book sales are held in the library and run over several days, often being combined with other special events such as Book Week or Grandparents Day. Book Fairs provide opportunities to purchase books for home reading and for donation to the school library, with the bonus of being able to start reading straight away as books are available immediately! Information about upcoming Book Fairs will appear in the school newsletter.
For many years, the ‘Rewards Points’ system has facilitated the purchase of new library books, and has been imperative in helping to replace classroom supplies and consumables such as storage tubs and group resources for learning units across all years/stages.
